BDA participates in construction of National AI Pilot Zone

Updated: 2021-06-23

The Beijing National Artificial Intelligence Innovation Application Pilot Zone was officially inaugurated on June 9, marking the official start of the construction of the pilot zone.

According to the pilot zone implementation plan, Beijing will launch four projects including the "Technology Winter Olympics", Smart Cities, Intelligent Manufacturing (IM) and Intelligent and Connected Vehicles (ICV), turning Beijing into one of the world's leading cities in AI.

The Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area (BDA) will undertake the development of IM and ICV in the pilot zone.

In recent years, the BDA has grasped the technological revolution and continuously promoted the integrated development of cutting-edge industries and AI, gradually forming an AI industrial base that integrates the application of core technologies such as autonomous intelligent systems, AI chips, machine learning, and intelligent manufacturing.

The BDA has now has gathered about 300 national high-tech enterprises in the fields of AI and fusion applications, and over ten enterprises with revenues of more than 1 billion yuan ($15.47 million).

In 2020, the BDA was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology as the "National AI High-tech Industrialization Base".

Currently, leading companies such as Xiaomi, ABB, Hollysys, Tide Pharmaceutical, Goldwind, and BOE have completed more than 40 smart factory projects in the district.

In terms of the development of the ICV industry, the BDA has taken the lead in building a connected, cloud-controlled autonomous driving demonstration zone, with the 60 square kilometer core area of the BDA at its center.

The first phase of the demonstration has seen the completion of 12 kilometers of urban roads and 10 kilometers of expressways, as well as a cloud control platform.

Meanwhile, relying on the National Radio and Television Administration's UHDTV Research and Application Laboratory, the BDA has unswervingly promoted the construction of the national high-tech audio-visual industrial park and the "5G+8K" innovative application pilot zone. It is striving to build a "five-in-one" base for the entire industry chain of game research and development and game cloud services, as well as production, technical services and real-life equipment application.
